Smitha readers did a fabulous job with the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge. In fact, they did so well, Smitha is being recognized for our exceptional participation in this program. I am so proud of all you readers!
The top elementary and middle schools that logged the most minutes from our four regions in Cobb are: Central Region: Cheatham Hill Elem & Smitha Middle Mountain View Region: Blackwell Elem & Dickerson Middle South Cobb Region: Sanders Elem & Floyd Middle West Cobb Region: Lewis Elem & Durham Middle Ms. Angela Mbagwu from Stratton Public Library came out to meet and greet parents and students during Smitha's Open House on Thursday. She gave out public library card applications, bookmarks, and pencils all while explaining to interested folks all the wonderful programs the public library has to offer.
The new school year is going to be a great one! We are kicking it off with orientations with 6th graders. We want to get everyone excited about reading and so our first themed event is "If you liked the movie, you will love the book." Please come check out our great selection of books that have been turned into movies of television shows. We are sure you will agree that the original verson is far superior. We are looking forward to seeing everyone soon!
